Shiva Temple, Kotdwar, Uttarakhand

The Shiva Temple is constructed in Kath Kuni architectural style prevalent in the Himalayan hilly region. Also known as Koti Banal architecture, this architectural style is as well referred as the Pagoda architectural style. Popular in the Himalayan region, the primary material used in this type of architecture is wood while in some regions use of stone along with wood is observed. Keeping in mind the traditional elements, we have created the temple structure with modern sustainable material to revitalize the classical architecture prevalent in our Himalayan region and to promote the vernacular architecture styles.

The temple here has the presence of Mahadev, the preserver and protector of the realms, in the form of a Shivling. Along with Mahadev the temple has the idols of his consort, goddess Parvati, his son Lord Ganesh and his vahana Nandi. The shikhara (top) of the temple is adorned with a trident (trishul) which is one of the attributes of Lord Shiva.
